Elm wood has a Janka Hardness value of 830, making it a highly robust wood. Elm’s hardness and resistance to splitting are enhanced by its interlaced grain. It has a long lifespan and is resistant to shock.
Elm is a elegant wood with natural heartwood colors ranging from light to medium reddish-brown and a paler sapwood that is off-white. Elm wood has a distinct growth ring pattern and interlocking wood grain, as well as a coarse, uneven texture. The interlocked grain has distinct swirls and waves that make it stands out.
